Collective Bargaining Agreements

All SGEU members are covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) that defines their relationship with the Employer.

A Collective Bargaining Agreement, also refered to as Collective Agreement or Contract, is a legally-binding written contract, arrived at through the process of negotiations between the Union and the Employer. The Collective Agreement covers such things as the employee’s wages, hours of work, and terms and conditions of employment. This written agreement between the Union and the Employer is for a definite period of time, defines the rights of employees and the processes for resolving disputes or handling issues that arise during the term of the agreement.

All members can have input into their own CBA during the negotiating process and it is every member's responsibility to know and understand their own Collective Bargaining Agreement.
